1024x768 Thinkpad 600e RH9 -help

Question:

..on my 600e 2645-3AU the display settings are distorted when at 1024x768 or full screen meaning the fonts look like hell and the shadows look bad etc - when I do a FN+F8 I can get it looking alot better but the screen is half the size of the monitor - I want it full screen and have it look that good , is this possible?

The biggest part of the question is the last sentence, I have searched the net for 3 weeks now and have seen everything except for what I am asking - Its all been "..How do I get the screen and the black part around my screen to go away and how do I get the screen bigger when it has the black space around my screen, But NOTHING that explains on how to get full screen LOOKING as good as when its a "small" screen with the black border - any suggestions?

Your install may have defaulted to some very generic settings for your XFree install. I dont know if this will help you or not (it's for a 2645-5AU), but the 'config' for the X windows is there, and it provides the info that you should be inputing when you 'config' your X windows:

That info changes from time to time, depending your Xfree release, but the 'data' should be OK, however, as with anything that can burn up your system, your results may vary. Try and verify as much of the frequency/chipset info prior to 'changing' anything. But I know that when you get your X working your chipset up to its peak performance, everything looks better.

See http://condor.depaul.edu/~jkristof/X...4.20030101.txt for more stuff!

Hints: Try using 16bit first, then try some of the 24bit.
