10/100 PCMCIA / RedHat 6.1 and up

What I need is a 10/100 PCMCIA NIC that will, by default, be seen in RedHat 6.1 and up. This ol' K6-2 300 laptop of mine just can't handle 7.1 or greater very efficiently. Any input on a NIC that will do the above with no hitches would be greatly appreciated. Right now I've got a 3COM 3CFEM656C, but it's just to new for 6.1 or 6.2 to see it. Even 7.1 has fits with it on occasion.

The standard Linksys WMP100 I think its called, their standard 10/100 based card is well over 3 years old and was in pcmcia-cs from way back in the RH6.1 days I'm pretty certain. Also the 3Com 3c589 is a very robust and old school 10base-t pcmcia card that I'm dead certain was viable back then.

Now, back to this laptop. I run Slackware 8.0 and 8.1 on a bunch of P1 133's using fluxbox as my wm and have no more than the typical slowing to a crawl as the application starts issues.

You might just want to switch distros, heck Peanut does a good job at this sort of thing, Debian if you have the patience.

Cheers,

Finegan
