'No medium found' error on _reattaching_ USB drive

Hi

I'm running RH7.2 on my laptop, and my USB flash drive works fine if it's attached at boot up. The drive turns up on sda1 and I've put an entry in fstab and it lets me mount it just fine.

/dev/sda1 /mnt/usbHD vfat noauto,user 0 0

But:

- If it's not plugged in during boot I can't mount it sucessfully later.

- If it's 'umount'ed then unplugged, and then reattached it doesn't work

In each case the response to my command 'mount /mnt/usbHd' is
the same frustrating:

'mount: No medium found'

Do you have any ideas about solving this please? Having to reboot all the time is making it a pain to use.

(I know of other Linux machines where these problems don't occur, so it must be solvable... but Googling hasn't helped me)

Many thanks.

Andrew
