Hello, I've tried for several hours to configure Huawei E173s on Ubuntu 14.04. Only what I get is that Ubuntu sees stick as storage(CD or microUSB) but I'm not able to force it to work as modem(to connect to internet). I've installed drivers which were inside device, also tried with other drivers. Device for sure isn't damaged because on Windows it works. Can you help me find how can I solve this issue?
Some information about device:
lsusb it shows modem switched off)

Hi...
I'm not sure of everything you've done to try and get your modem to work or if I'll be able to help here but if lsusb is truly saying the modem is switched off (the report you gave says it's switched on,) then you can try using the instructions here and see if that will work.
Also, make sure that usb_modeswitch is set up properly. More on that here. You might want to enable logging and post a report.
There are additional threads that might be of help here.
Thanks for answer @ardvark71. Unfortunately those articles didn't help me but thanks to Sakis3G (tool) I've solved my problem Heres good explanation what I needed to do: LINK

Just FYI for anyone who is interested in using this program, particularly any government agency: it is very important that you look through the EULA first. It has clauses that might affect your ability to use the tool.
