[SOLVED]TOSHIBA Portège Z830 and WD1TB USB3 booting not recogtnized by bios

I do not think it is a matter of bios, but rather of Toshiba Z830 compatibility with external HD, My laptop, recognizes any type of external pendrive and I can visualize it in the bios when I set it up for booting from USB, but if I try with external HDs,(USB3 or not), they are not recognized and ignored in booting.
Any idea?
PS In an old tower ( 8 years ), the HD works really fine and is recognized with no problem

Is grub/or syslinux installed to mbr of external hard drive. How was the install done to external hard drive done?

If unetbootin was used on pendrives and they boot fine. Then you can understand why someone may ask this.

"visualize it in the bios when I set it up for booting from USB,"

Should be found as a choice under hard drives.

Be sure the external is powered up before you boot computer. If it uses laptop power it may lag too much.

Jefro, I do apologize for my late answer. You are a genius and the only one ( do you hear the platters with "only you" in the background? ) to give me real solving stuff, which is logic.
YES, the problem is the external HD to be powered BEFORE the Z830 turns on. It is not a matter of other thinks, infact it works with other external HDs, but not the WD1TB and many others which are powered by the USB port.
Thanks again
