This was not working. I have initially tried that and got the same "device busy" error

Hi

Ignore what you did in past = initially.....when you kill PA please post your full error msg. I know you had one in the past but lets see it on topic to this thread pls.

Do you mind if I send you a pm too?

Ofc, I would be better.

Edit: I did pulseaudio --kill

And still "cat .config/pulse/daemon.conf | grep daemonize" outputs daemonize = yes

Edit2:
Again tried to click "Aplly Now" button in hdajackretask. But I need to give some information about terminal output. When the error "tee:/sys/class/sound/hwC0D0/reconfig: Device or resource busy" shows, it shows in the termianl that:
"E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to kill daemon: No such process"

ahh what?

OK my logic says
your home config turned PA into a daemon....which if killed and not restarted....would remain killed.

the last part of your error is "Failed to kill daemon: No such process"....so allegely...PA is already killed.

but your screenshot...before ... showing processes in htop....said PA not running in daemon mode.

distraction number 2 for me....I have no /sys/class/sound/hw Directory.

#############################

so here are some thoughts for you.

A something happened in the past....your errors were correctly reported but
B in attempting to kill PA.....its actually already killed but

I am seeking clarity. Can you confirm B....by re-looking at your htop.
if you can not see pulseaudio...press the F3 key and type a bit of pulseaudio.....
and report if its RED...which means B is confirmed....or pulseaudio shows up

if PA shows up...I have failed to kill it my way. And I would then not be so cocky at thinking PA is the only interference.
(The choice of disto springs to mind.)

but to eliminate or confirm distro...one or both us...would need to dl each other's distro and try on their distro.

I should add.....I do not have your hw....but I used the tool to convert my mic input into a headphone output. So I am still hoping the tool is good....we just need to discover why you can not click on apply now.

I again did "pulseaudio --kill" and looked htop.
But I can still see pulseaudio in there

Right thanks for that....on my test on distro MX...I did not need to reboot or logout for PA to be killed.

Maybe your distro is different...so I may need to change my instructions in first post.

clearly....your home config is not being read at time of htop output....thanks.

Can you now do me a favour....do not delete those 2 home configs...do a full reboot
at boot up....no attempt to run the HDA pin stuff please....and attempt to kill PA as a local user by

Code:
pulseaudio --kill
then open htop and search for pulseaudio.

No need for image link this time ilker4fun.....just report if PA is still running or not found (shows up in F3 search as red text)

2) Can you name your distro....its version number....and if it comes with different desktops what you downloaded.
I may have to dl your product to see for myself....if I can kill PA with my method etc

assuming its a non-commercial site for dl....you can post your dl link to it too if you like

Because PA is not being killed....for you.....I am still inclined to think PA may be interfering.
I have no problem modifying my first post....as you are the only person I can verify the instructions with.

so you are important and hope can stay the distance.

################

today I started with a fresh /etc/pulse and no home configs
my commands from first post were as expected

I started PA as expected with
Code:
 pulseaudio -vvv
I: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup successful.
PS I can no longer edit my first post....if we need to...we can get a mod to change it
and add credits to you for your efforts too.

After doing "pulseaudio --kill" and I can still see it in htop.
My distro is official ubuntu 19.10 desktop image from http://releases.ubuntu.com/19.10/

I think we found the problem though. When I did " pulseaudio -vvv"
It says "E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Daemon startup failed."

Btw, it is I who should be thanked. Thank you for all of your efforts for trying to figure out my problem.

Edit: After some research, I found that following commands worked for some.
Quote:
rm -r ~/.config/pulse/*
cp -r /etc/pulse/* ~/.config/pulse/
reboot
I tried that here is the terminal outputs of following commands.

I can not comment on A....there is something quirky about that....I will dl your distro and see.
B is wonderful....the home config is now working

C....something definately wrong there......I want you to understand this....as it speeds up our communications.

it is supposed to be = yes.

And......I repeat....when its a deamon....its easier (IMHO) to kill and stay killed.

Now I only guess that you actually decided.....without getting permission...giggles to do this
rm -r ~/.config/pulse/*
cp -r /etc/pulse/* ~/.config/pulse/
reboot

and what do you think would happen to both home configs I attempted to get into your home dir from post one.

Again....there is nothing stopping you from solving this issue yourself....but while I am attempting to help,
I would really appreciate it if you do not do other things.....its harder to troubleshoot

and then I have to ask...did you actually do that and yes I do suspect your English may be an issue here as

"I tried that here is the terminal outputs of following commands."
did not actually follow the commands you last posted just above.

If you agree....do NOT edit any more /etc/pulse or .config/pulse files without discussing it first please

cheers

I first did these 3 commands.
Quote:
After some research, I found that following commands worked for some.
rm -r ~/.config/pulse/*
cp -r /etc/pulse/* ~/.config/pulse/
reboot

Then, I did these three commands
Quote:
pulseaudio
pulseaudio -v
pulseaudio -vvv
I actually don't understand what is the problem of the misunderstanding. English is not my mother language but I hope you got my point

As you wish

@ilker4fun

I forgive you for not succeeding with my instructions because this blinking distro refuses to accept home configs.

So then I tried some system configs....different files are involved and still no luck daemonzing it.

So then I looked and found a file called
/etc/systemd/user/default.target.wants/pulseudio.service and changed its values to
ExecStart=/usr/bin/pulseaudio --daemonize=yes

did a full reboot and still this blinking distro refuses to accept it.

I am spitting the dummy on this one....

Can I suggest you try out MX 19 download found here
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mx-linux/files/Final/

You will probably want
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mx-...4.iso/download

and if you know how to use md5sum or sha256sum to check the iso download the relevant file ending in md5 or sha256.

before inserting a usb stick do this

Code:
sudo su
blkid

#then insert usb stick that you do mind over writing and repeat
blkid
the target will be the last letter set now showing
eg /dev/sdc

to write to usb

Code:
dd if=MX-19.1_x64.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M && sync
change sdX to sdb or sdc etc.

Thank you for trying on my Linux distro. I am sorry to hear that you didn't figure it out.
I haven't heard Mx-linux before. I hope I will be able to successfully install it on my tablet
