[Mandriva] Setting up WLAN + 56k connection on laptop

Hi all, I'm a new user of the fantastic linux world!
First of all, excuse me for the ignorance, I'm a total newbie of linux and I may cause some errors or give you not all the infos you need to help me...

I've recently installed Mandriva Linux 10.1 on my laptop, everything went fine, also with partitioning.
The OS works great, it's amazing :)
The only thing I can't do for now is to connect to internet: first I have to set up my WLAN and my 56k connection to do so.

My laptop is a Sony PCG-GRZ615M.

The WLAN I need to set up consists of a PCMCIA card, a 3com 11mbps 3CRSHPW196, installed on a PCMCIA controller, a Ricoh RL5c478 if I'm not wrong.
When inserting the card, it's like it's dead, but it's not :)
I think the PCMCIA controller is up&running, I can see it in the Hardware specs of the computer.

The other problem is the modem: on the hardware specs window, it's recognized as "Unknows device", and it's impossible to create a working connection, even trying the manual selection of the modem.

If you need more info just let me know, actually I don't know where to start

Thx in advance for the help ;)
