Ok I have been for 2 days straight trying to get desktop effects working in my Compaq V2000 Laptop but I am unable to... It keeps failing to enable desktop effects so I know it has to do with X11...
I am not sure what I am doing wrong but in FC5 I was able to install the ati driver just fine... In FC6 I am having all kinds of problems.. it keeps telling me th following error "Driver does not provide the FireGL X11 ExtensionsI Panel components will operate only partially" so I know some thing is wrong here...
I have try everything on the following guides and I get no where:
What's the output of lspci? This will give us an idea of what the graphics chipset is.
By looking at your xorg.conf, it appears that you are running the open source 'radeon' driver. This (depending on the graphics chipset) will have issues with the desktop effects.
Again, depending on the chipset, the ati fglrx drivers may/may not work to solve the issue of desktop effects.
