[Error Screen] Is it the HDD or mobo failure?

Trying to troubleshoot a problem. Attached screen is what happens when trying to install a Linux distro from an .iso image to a wiped HDD.

The CDROM drive reads other CDs so that's not the issue. My question is: Does attached error screen indicate a HDD problem or is it a motherboard failure?

the .iso image in question is fine. it installed to another brand new $3k box successfully. Kubu 7.04 is just shit at the moment and not recommended to install to any box older than 6 mos.
