zombies????


hello,

Where could we get details regarding zombie processes?
Like from what application it came from? And how could we prevent such processes to appear?

You can find those processes by typing: ps faux

so how can i know which of the process is a zombie?

Check out: http://unix.about.com/library/glossa...ie-process.htm

The ps output will show a "Z" in the process state.

ps falx will show the processes in a tree. The PPID column is the pid of the parent, STAT is process state.
