Yast won't start and no text

I think i did an autoupdate and now alot of stuff isnt working...first off when i try to login to linux, all the text is in squares, but when i login everything is in english, except for a couple of programs, when i try to change the language in the SCIM pad or what ever its called it just shows a big list of icons and no text. when i try to start yast it asks for password and nothing opens, i tryed opening yast from root and that dosent work either
