xterm in root window

Hi,
Does anyone know how I can run xterm in the root window, as you can with screensavers? Is this even possible?

Not sure what you mean by the root window, but if you mean the terminal that's not in X, I dont think you can.

If that's what your asking just hold down ALT & hit anything from F1 to F6 & you'll get a new terminal, just switch back to your first one with ALT F1,
ALT & F7 is for X.

Hope That Helps

no i'm pretty sure it's not possible. however some people use a terminal emulator like eterm and them hide the border, menu's etc, and set the back ground to transparent, maximize it and force it to stay in teh back ground... i.e. it'll act as you want.
