Hi,
I have a problem with running an xserver from inside a chroot environment. My setup is similiar to the one described in the following tutorial:
http://www.gentoo-wiki.info/HOWTO_startx_in_a_chroot
I have set up a minimal debian environment with debootstrap. In it I have installed xorg. When using ubuntu, debian or arch as the "host system" (system outside of chroot) this setup works fine. I can chroot into the minimal system and start the xserver. When using suse or redhat as host system the same commands produce a xserver that doesn't respond to keyboard or mouse input. The xserver logs are identical for responsive and non-responsive systems.
Additionally I have tried the same process with an arch and ubuntu chroot environment with similar results.
What could cause this behavior? Are redhat and suse doing something different in comparison to debian/arch?
