Xrandr dosnt work
 
ok so i just installed redhat 9 on my Dell inspiron 8000 and rh 8 runs great but when i installed 9 and it booted up after the 45 min install process i had to choose my screen well i left it as unprobed and then as i hit next and it was finishing up its installation process it start to load and the flickerd as it go to logon and flickerd and all i can get to is the text version is there anyway i can fix this with out reinstalling it because iv reinstalled twice now. Iv tried xrandr dosnt work and iv tried other stuff but no luck HELPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!

redhat-config-xfree86

this is what i get when i run redhat-config-xfree86

a flickering screen then
id: none
Name: none
HorizSync: none
Vertsync: none

couldnt start X server, trying with a fresh configuration
*ddcprobe returned bogus values
id: none
Name: none
HorizSync: none
Vertsync: none

trying with card: ATI Rage 128 Mobility
error, cannont start X server

thats all its doing and i had redhat 8 on here and it ran like a charm!! thanx for your hlep

Did you happen to save the XF86Config and XF86Config-4 files from RH8?

my setup is a dell inspiron 8000 and im running redhat 8 now but i would like to upgrade to 9 if that was possible i dont understand why it dosnt work for 9 it works great for 8 but anways i would love to get 9 working if it would only find my laptops screen.
