Xp broke my Master boot record.

I am running dual boot on my PC, Redhat Ent 4 and Win XP.

I had to reinstall Xp and it has now overwritten the MBR so I cannot access Grub it just boots straight from the C:/ drive instead of the /boot partition.

How can I get it back? Is there any software for repairing the MBR?

Boot with the Installation media into rescue mode by typing 'linux rescue' minus the single quotemarks when the menu screen is displayed. Answer a few question and read the on-screen messages. Pay extra attention to the chroot screen, and follow the advice. When ready type something like;

/sbin/grub-install --recheck /dev/hda

When done type 'exit' (twice) and reboot.

Things like the Ultimate Boot CD--or any "live Linux" such as Knoppix will have utitilies for reinstalling GRUB.

One suggestion: Put GRUB on a floppy--when you reinstall window, you will still be able to get into Linux.
