Xorg problems
running ubuntu 5.10 and after a reset (to play games on windows :P) X server didn't work. I did edit the Xorg .conf file that i can't remember the name of so i could get a better resolution after trying a solution posted on another forum. My question is how can i rerun the program to configure the GUI engine and how can i get a proper resolution(85hz) on ubuntu 5.10.
some point to note: * ATI radion 9600XT graphics card (the linux support is horrid and yes I have sent several emails to ATI telling them so) * ubuntu 5.10 breazy 64bit version * the exact error was "failed to start X server (...technical memory blocks and such..) ... not setup correctly. #excuse my shorthand its not really exact. Any help will be appriciated as even being a linux noob I love it more than windows which I'm being forced to use out of necessity at the moment. ps. sorry for the spelling and grammar, I'm a programmer not a writer. |
Either run xorgconf to re-create your config file, or post the output of .xsession-errors after you've run "startx" from the terminal.
