i have installed xmms and now upgrade to lates version 1.2.8.
xmms dont sound good at all with my creative vibra 128 soundcard.

i have used art,esound,oss and alsa output plugins but all of them dont sound as good as windows does. what else output plugins that i can get out there? and please let me know where to download it.
all 4 of the output plugins sounds crappy and give verymuch probems to me also. some it makes kde crash. and some delayed a long time before i started to play.

When you say it sounds bad, do you mean that it skips and pauses or the sound is distorted. If you are getting clipping, then likely you are trying to pre-amp AND run at 100% volume. Try reducing the volume to fix clipping. If it is slow, skips, etc, Try this

open a console and enter
code:
su - root
<password>
nice --20 xmms
Edit: NOTE that is two (2) dashes. nice 'dash' 'dash' 20 xmms :edit

Then switch to oss sound driver and see what it sounds like. Knowing nothing about your system, you may simply have too many services running, taking away from xmms playback. Report back the results and the type of 'bad sound' and we can take it from there.
