Xinerama ?'s and Problems.
First question. Is Xinerama something for using 2 monitors?? Second question. On the MDK board awhile back I had posted my inability to view some videos that are on a couple of music cd's I have. The only replier stated that he/she had no problem viewing vcd's and that I should go to PLF and download everything Xine. I did ( I didn't see a reply until recently). Now when I click on Xine the opening screen starts up and disapears after about 10 seconds. So, I had posted my woe's and got no answer. So, I got to thinking that I should go to root and SU and type in Xine. And I did and the results were: Xine v0.9.22 built with xine library 1.0.0 (1-rc0a) found xine library version 1.0.0 (1rc3a). Then it states what I considered non usable info to this problem, but ended with: Display is not using Xinerama. main: all available video drivers failed. Kmplayer is working good and obviously X is good so I don't know exactly what I downloaded or didn't that is causing this problem. My guess is I don't need Xinerama because when doing a Google/Linux search it directed me to this site wherein a person was/is having problems with Xinerama and when directed to sourceforge.net and personally I see what he/she sees and that there is nothing to download but instructions to dealing with Xinerama for multiple monitors and/or networking. So, if I don't need it what do I look for to remove Xinerama. And like I said I downloaded and installed everything Xine including some "libxxxx" files, too. And since it seems to be a bit of a hassle just to watch a couple music videos I won't worry about it. And yes you may call me an idiot for downloading everything I did without really paying total attention to what exactly what I was opening. I'v been using Linux for nigh on 3 years and should have known better. My system is: MDK 9.1 pentium 600 ona tyan mobo, 512 megs of ram nVidia GeForce 2 MX400 (64meg) with the 43xx drivers, and, if it matters, a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro monitor.
Later. Pepse.
