Ximian/Gnome mime-types
Hey folks, I've been bashing my head trying to figure out why my Ximian mime types are not being used.
For example I want to have it so that I can double click on an mpeg and have the preferred software load it. But no matter what I tell the mime-type to use it tries to use xanim. I've looked on the net for solutions but havn't found any. All I see are people with the same problem and no answers. Are there files I can edit manually to change this behaviour? Anyone have a solution to this? Thanx! |
Did you have any luck with that? I recently downloaded GNOME 2.6 and have a similar problem. When I start "gnome-file-types-properties" everything seems to be allright. I see there a lerge list with known file types. But when I open Nautilus nothing works. If I try to add a new file type from within Nautilus (right click -> Open With -> An Application) the "add new file type" window opens and after I make all the changes nautilus still won't recognize any file types.
If you managed to find a response to this problem please post it. |
Maybe you would like to visit the following thread, where I posted a solution that worked for me. Boy, was this ANNOYING. Hope this helps:
