Unhappy xhost Problems

I am having problems trying to display x-programs on my local machine from a remote machine.

I am running RH7.3 connected to the outside world using pppd with a connection to BTOpenworld with an alcatel USB modem.

I telnet to my work machine (Unix box) and set the display as the ip address that I get out of ifconfig ppp0

user@host>setenv DISPLAY XXX.XX.XXX.XX:0.0

I then set xhost +remote.machine.name on my local machine.

[root@localhost] xhost +name

When I try to run a simple x program such as xterm all I get after some time (A few mins) is;

xterm Xt error: Can't open display:XXX.XX.XXX.xx:0.0

Does anybody have any ideas or am I just being stupid?!

Cheers
I.D.

Hrm. All I do is add the remote machine using xhost. The rest is automatic.

I have always managed to make this work when I used the same machine on my university network using the same proceedure, but now I have no joy.
I don't think it can be a firewall thing as I used the exact same setup when it worked over that network.
