xgamma kills Xserver

OK,

I recently went from RedHat 8 to slackware 9.1. Back when I was on Redhat I had added xgamma -gamma 2.5 to my .xinitrc file so that my brightness would change on startup. I have added the same exact thing to my .xinitrc file in slackware, but now the xserver dies on startup. I have the Nvidia drivers loaded, and I get the Nvidia splash screen, but then I'm kicked back to a prompt. I also get no error messages from the X server.

Any ideas? Are there any other ways for me to have xgamma run automatically?

TYIA

OK.... nevermind.

I threw the command in my /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc file right above the command that launches my window manager, and that worked.
