XFS - extreemly slow

Hi all,

I'm currently working with Fedora 6 and have problems with xfs' writing speed.
My setup:
1st SATA disk: Fedora 6 with partitions for /boot,/,/usr....
2nd and 3rd SATA disk: DATA
All disk were at first ext3 formated, then I decided to switch to XFS. It took almost 17 hours to transfer 250GB.
Then I installed Fedora from scratch - also XFS except for /boot (ext3) - updating and installing the latest updates took a bit more than 4 hours.

Any ideas what would cause this? I found this http://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/faq.html#wcache but I'm not sure it has to do something with my issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated

update:
After I reinstalled fedora and updated xfsdump and xfsprogs transfer rates are up again
Hard disk still "works" a lot.
