Xfree86 problem

I type:

#startx

and it tries to starup X but I have a problem... Guess it's display related and I don't know how to fix it.

error section of the screen contents:

Fatal server Error:
no screens found

X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown)
xauth: (argv):1: bad display name "luke.wi.rr.com:0" in "remove" command

any ideas?

Have you tried rerunning xf86config?

You might have broken your XF86Config file somehow, rerunning the config might sort it out.

Which distro is this Ben?

Cool

I do, but I am not on my system alot, been working like a dog lately.

At work the system geeks won't let us install it, but I did manage to get cygwin on here, and can run windowmaker. So, maybe with some more work I could get GAIM running via that route here...

Any luck yet?

Cool

Wow, that's pretty sweet! If I didn't work for the Navy I'd probably try to get them to switch over too

That'd be so nice to do some linuxing here without having to ssh into my box, or run cygwin.

Cool
