XFree86 3.x to XFree86 4.x
Since I'm A Linux User I'm Bound to make misakes.
I Had Everything working fine with MY geforce 4 Ti4400 Then I changed something then my PC can't startx again .
Was Using XFree86 4.x Now I'm using 3.x I don't know how to switch and my screen gives me out of frequency message saying Linux is using 150 Hsync. and 200 Vsync, with My SVGA Server .
And the values of the defined Monitor In XF86config are H:30-70 , V:50-90
What's Happening and How can I Fix It ????
Thanks

Uninstall the XFree86-3.x.x rpm's and install the XFree86-4.x.x rpm's or boot with your mandrake install cd and select "Expert Update" when you get to the end it will give you a choice of which version of X to install.

try starting X with XFree86
instead of startx or something.
I had about the same problem.
That is because version 3 and 4 are both on your pc.
Version 3 is called XF86_SVGA
and version 4 is called XFree86.

i wnated to use XFree86 4.x so I tried to change to my graphics card from XFdrake and it asked which XFree86 to choose and I chose 4.x.x Of Course , But Nothing Happend .Linux Kept on using XF86config not XFconfig-4????
So I Decided to uninstall 3.x.x :
urpme XFree86-server-common.....

after that XFdrake stopped asking me whether to use 3.x.x or 4.x.x and automaticly installed the files I removed and returned to the beginning .
