XFree and DE-Keyboard?

Guten Morgen,
I'm running Slackware 8/9 on my little pIII box since a long time.

The Problem is XFree .. argh, it doesn't get my DE-Keyboard right. Ok, I can do all the Umlauts etc. but when it comes to "|" or "<>" nothing happens. And than sucks when I try to build a pipeline, do some Coding etc.

So what's the right thing to write into the config file? pc102, de, nodeadkeys? It doesn't work ...

Ahja, in normal Console-runlevel it's no problem.

Thanks everyone
