XF86 Problems

I have Redhat 9 installed on a desktop dual boot XP.My mouse was working just fine all along but when i remove it and replaced it with a USb one i cant log on to my machine. Its like the heyboard stops functioning too.The USB mouse is not detected by Kudzu so cant install it.I then put my old mouse back and there i was back to my Linux.I then tried to add my USb mouse by selecting "Generic USB mouse" This did not work too and the machine works well when my old mouse is on and even with the USB one connected there was no problem.I then removed my old mouse again and Kudzu screen came up again and this time i chose to delete the configuration(for the old mouse) hoping that the USB configuration i had chosen earlier would work. But now i get the black screen and the X server wont start.During boot it reads that there is "No such mouse installed as Generic USB"
Wht do i do?:newbie:

have you tried checking your XF86Config file at the input device > mouse section?
