I want to start "xdm" deamon automatically while Linux start on runlevel 5. I tried to setup in /etc/rc.d init directory but there is no xdm startup script found in Linux like other deamon. I just manually start and stop.
Can you please guide me how can I put into start up scripts so it will start everytime while system boot.

Ok. I don't have access to any dead-rat machines at the
moment, and the last one I touched with GUI on it was about
4 years ago :}
Have a look at your /etc/inittab, edit it to make runlevel 5
the default.
It should tell you which script it's running for runlevel 5
(which is the runlevel RH uses for X if I remember correctly).
I also think that DeadRat by default uses GDM for graphical
login, but you can surely change that either in the afore-
mentioned script or using sysctl ...
