Xawtv has thin black bars on left and right side

Whenever I try to watch TV I get thin black bars on each side of the video. Also, if I try to record anything, thin black bars are encoded on each side, which is unnecessary work. I am thinking maybe there is an offset in the bttv drivers somewhere that I need to change, but I am not sure how to do it. I am using a Leadtek Winfast TV2000 and Red Hat 9.
