Xandros boot loader doesn't load Xandros

Ok. I just finished installing the xandros (free download eddition). I have an 80 hard drive with windows 2000 on it and a 6 gb drive for linux. I just finished installing Xandros and after the install is done it tells me to take the cd out and restart.

So I do that and then I get to the boot menu. It lists 1. Windows 2000. That's all. Nothing else.

I've reinstalled Xandros, done the restore xandros option that someone said would just fix the boot loader. Nothing works.

This isn't the first distro I've used. I've used mandrake, suse, fedora. All of those installed no problem. I just can't figure out what my problem is right now.

Any ideas?

does xandros use Grub or Lilo ?
anyways, boot a linux rescue disk, then add Xandros to the boot menu manually.

if your suing grub, you needd to edit the file /boot/grub/menu.lst

add the tiles..

Code:
title Xandros Linux
     root (hd0,0)
     kernel /path/to/kernel root=/dev/hda1
     initrd /path/to/initrd
replace (hd0,0) with the partiton that the kernel (boot foler) is on.
replace /path/to/kernel with the kernel file relative to the partiton you entered for root.
replace initrd with the path to the initrd file (same path as the kernel) if you have one... this is optional.
replace root=/dev/hda1 with the block device for the root partiton.

the kernel will be called bzImage or vmlinuz or linux depending on the distro.

there are loads of guides on this site about grub and lilo.
