mandrake 9.1 X error ( post #1)

I have just installed mandrake 9.1 yet again onto to my hard drive along side XP PRO. When installing mandrake it came up with and error to say it could not install ghost script or Gimp. I carried on letting it install and all seemed to go ok.
When i reboot my system it goes through the checks and there is a failure saying error while loading shared libaries.

I then eventually get the log on prompt and i enter my name and password. I have tried typing startx but all i get is the following message.

" xauth error whilst loading shared libaries can not open libxmuu.so.1: can not open shared object file no such file or directory"

Can anyone help ? i am newbie to linux so will need to be given step by step instructions. I have had mandrake and xp pro as dual boot before but i have never had this problem loading linux.

My hard disk was formated and i then loaded xp pro first. The resizing of the partition and the partitioning was done using the madrake install disk

you need to install libxmuu.so.1

search google.com/linux for "provides libxmuu.so.1"
and you should get a package name... now look for that package name on your install cd's and install it.

OR ww.rpmfind.net search for "libxmuu.so.1" and that may also give you a package name... if you find it, look for it on your install cd's.

its better to install of your install cd's rather than downloading it because or possible version conflictions.
