I'm running on HyperVM (using w/ OpenVZ) running CentOS 5. I have no clue how to sort this all out, or really where to start... oO
Also, in addition to the above, there's no config file in the /etc/X11/ directory, and running Xorg -configure I also get...

[root@kphost ~]# Xorg -configure

The "common denominator" in all the Google matches is that the kernel build didn't match the Xlib build.
Centos 5 is a relatively current release.
Your X11 is ancient ( Window System Version 7.1.1, Release Date: 12 May 2006).
Q: Are you using the version of Xlib that came built-in with CentOS?
If not, why not?
Or why not at least download and build a current version of Xlib?

Well first off, no idea. Second of all, it's an OS Template from a VPS called CentOS 5.1 Host-in-a-box something like that, anyway, what ever is in there is in there, so I'm guessing getting the current release of the X Windows System would be the start, and getting the current version of Xlib? If so, how would I go about doing those? and also the repositories may not be up to date...
"CentOS 5.1", as you probably know, is an operating system. A Linux operating system. One of several different varieties (one of several different "distros").
"VPS", or "Virtual Private Server", as you probably also know, is a virtual machine (like Xen or VMWare) with an OS (like CentOS or RedHat) installed on it.
It sounds like somebody screwed up when they created the VM that you're using as your VPS.
If you're paying for this service, yell at them.
Otherwise, if you have control over your VM environment, then just download CentOS and create your own, new, (correctly built!) VM.

Good luck .. PSM
You're definitely right about the fact that they messed up on making the dsitro. It's not the first time xD Then again for $20, getting 3GB RAM, 30 GB HDD, and 300 GB Data Transfer isn't too bad xD
