I am trying to find an X Windows Server for Windows XP that can be run off of a USB key. Some of the systems that I use I am not allowed to install anything on but I would still like to be able to connect to x windows in order to run certain things. I plan to use Putty to forward the X11. Putty does not need to be installed so I am looking for something like that in an X server. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would really appriciate it.
I was thinking about using Qemu + DSL (Damn Small Linux) and use it as an X server.
It is a crappy solution, if you don't find something better.
I know about some X servers for windows, but I don't know if it is possible to run them without installing.
Free are : xming, cygwin/X
unfree are : reflection X, Hummingbird Exceed.
Humm that could work, but like you said it is not the best solution, but I will keep it in mind. Hopefully one of the other members here might have an idea about another possible solution.
That is why I ask questions here, generally people are smarter then me
