X Window without peripherals

Hi guys,
recently I've found out my linux box could not start in X Window (KDE 3.0, Red Hat 7.3) as obvious error given that there was no mouse connected (keyboard as well).

My box is a firewall/file/etc server so it's not connected to any hardware except ethernet cable (accessing server is done by remote SSH mainly).

I am just wondering if there is any way to start X Window (startx) with no input devices connected to the machine?

Thanks alot
J.B.

Maybe run VNC through SSH?

From the man page (man XF86Config):
Quote:

-allowMouseOpenFail
Allow the server to start up even if the mouse
device can't be opened or initialised. This is
equivalent to the AllowMouseOpenFail XF86Con-
fig(5x) file option.
However, personally I'd give a few things a try:
comment out the relevant sections in your /etc/X11/XF86Config file (maybe XF86Config-4).

Simply attach a keyboard (You might want one after a while anyway ;) )

:)

Cool
