x server startup failed
I am trying to install fedora10 on my desktop with 320gb HDD, Intel Dualcore, Biostar mother board, 1 GB RAM. I installed fedora many times, now my PC is connected to a SAMSUNG B2030 monitor which is of size 20.5 inches. This time, Anaconda is falling back to text mode as it cannot recognize the VGA. Monitor CD is along with me but it didnot contain any linux drivers. (Drivers for xp are installed). What is the solution? Should I switch to the latest fedora13?

Hello .
use this command : Code:
startx |
try "X -configure" it will tell you how to test your new xorg.conf then try startx
if x starts replace your /etc/X/xorg.conf file with your new configuration file then try init 4 |
Thank you..but how to configure the new device I don't know, Any way I will try it..

great job on listing specs but you forgot the most needed information. What is your video card or chipset? Example I got a x1250 ati radeon integrated chipset. But I use a ati radeon x700pro video card.
You may need to configure xorg with the right driver. |
Thank you all for the help. I tried installing the proper drivers, in-vain. So I opted to go to fedora13, which automatically recognized the Monitor driver and took me to the Graphical Mode of Installation. Fedora 13 also offered me to proceed the installation with ordinary VGA driver, but I said No. Moreover, during the installation I could only chose either "office and productivity" or "software development packages". In fedora 7,9,10 it is possible to install both of them. Why fedora13 is allowing only one of them? With this I can see all gcc compilers, Java installed, but no openoffice or pdf viewers. Please help me on how to get the offcice and productivity?
