i am atempting to install the Nvidia driver and i get it going but then is says i must exit X Server to continue the installation. How do i exit X server?
yea it tried the init 3 thingy and it said init command not found. please help me i have only had RH 9 for about 2 weeks. if you could please post everything i need to do exit X server.
this is starting to make me mad. i opened the file in gedit but it will not let me edit the file. it says it is a read only file and i cant change it to where i can edit it?
you must login as root for that!!
and better getout and login again as root,without using 'su'.I suspect that was the reason 'init' etc didnt work for you.
go to the LQ.org newbie fourm and look at the instructions in the sticky thread there...or just read the readme file from nvidias site....the steps are pretty basic in both tutorials
