X only loads for root user; Hangs when other users log in (Fedora Core 3)

Hi,

I've searched high and low, and I cannot find a resolution to my problem. I've been running FC3 for a few weeks now without problems (very nice distro BTW), but all of a sudden after running a fer updates, all users on the system [with the exception of root] cannot start X. After the user logs in, the system just hangs. I've tried going into command mode, killing and restarting X (by removing /tmp/.X0-lock, and then entering startx), but again, the system just hangs.

Any ideas??

I've tried adding new users, and the same problem occurs.

TIA guys

please report your X log file from /var/log/
The XFree86 log file is called XFree86.0.log. (for X.org maybe X.org.0.log, or similar)
