WTF is this?

Hello,
Today I've installed new slackware 13. When the system boots,at the upper left of the screen in place of a good old linux penguin, now there is something between parot and monkey. How can I bring back the penguin, or at least disable this freak not to be shown?

Apparently the new logo is called Tuz. From /usr/src/linux/Documentation/logo.txt:

Quote:
Tux is taking a three month sabbatical to work as a barber, so Tuz is standing in. He's taken pains to ensure you'll hardly notice.

I'd still also like to get rid of it and have Tux back.

Wow, that is one strange little creature....

As far as I know, that image is compiled into the kernel, so outside of recompiling with another image, I don't know of a way to change it. Though, I am not very familiar with a Slackware kernel, there might be a way to change it in the initrd.

I guess you can be glad you only have a single core processor, one of those will show up for each core.

See http://lwn.net/Articles/323966/ and http://www.itwire.com/content/view/23976/1141. They didn't just do it to annoy everyone!

I've got 3 cores in my machine, so I see three of Tuz . He's horrible! Torvalds himself said the change of logo is only temporary: http://lkml.org/lkml/2009/3/23/449.
