Wrong md5sum after dd
I downloaded an ISO (linux installer) file, burnt it to a DVD and installed. Everything went OK.

Then I did:

dd if=/dev/cdrom of=file.iso
The md5sum hash is not the same of the downloaded ISO, but the DVD is OK, at least I could install linux successfully from it.

What I'm missing here ?

The right command to use is:

cmp file.iso /dev/cdrom
The reason why md5sum doesn't match is because the image is padded with zeros after it is burned.
