writing command

Hope this is the correct forum for this question:
I'm running LM 18.3xfce live and need to use the command "apt-cdrom" to make the CD-Rom recognized by APT. But, it's not a CD-rom; it's a "bootable" pendrive.

mmm does it accept apt-<some usb port> because it could be any one of them. so I'd make that kind of hard to do?

Here is the quote from terminal response: "Please use apt-cdrom to make this CD-ROM recognized by APT". No, it would not make any sense to try a command citing the USB ports. I believe(?) what must be done is to make the command read it in such a way as to "recognize" the pendrive/"live" O.S. and not a USB port... (my reasoning being...the drive could be plugged into different USB ports, therefore, assigning a port would be irrelevant)
