Window/mouse placement with split 2048x768

Hello,

I'm running X 6.8.2 with 2.6.14-rc5 (although it's been an issue with all stable versions) and the latest 32 bit nVidia drivers (1.0-7676). My resolution is 2048x768, meaning that the image is split between my monitor and TV at 1024x768 each. My virtual desktop treats the entire 2048x768 range as one single monitor. What I'd like to do is have a way to either split this up, or restrict my mouse movement and window placement to the monitor alone, leaving one thing open on the other screen. I'm sure it's possible, especially the splitting virtual desktops to 1024x768 (while still splitting the image as well), so if anyone has any advice on how to do this or where to look, I'd appreciate it - I've tried every search string and scanned any document I could think of.

Thanks in advance.
