Unhappy Win2k with Linux. PROBLEMS! Help!

Well...
Let me see if I can explain this issue:

I have win2k installed, then I install Linux Mandrake 9. Everthing works just great. But when I boot into win2k then, my machine take a LONG, LONG time to boot into. And when in the os (win2k) , everytime I´ll save a file, or open windows explorer to explore (duh) my files, takes again a LONG, LONG time. Seems that the os (win2k) take this time because it doesn´t understand the linux ext2 partition, i guess. And so take this huge time to perform tasks.
Help me please because I need both systems and I search the entire web and not found any help.
My HD is partitioned like this

C:/ --> Win2k
D:/ --> old Work´s partition, now with linux mandrake
E:/ ---> Programs
F:/ ---> Games

Tks,

Bask

What does taskmanager tell you about your resources in Win2k? Look on the Performance tab and see what the CPU and memory usage is.

Its normal. I think this is not the main issue. Games, apps, everthing works just fine. But when I save or others tasks that call for the partitions (when saving files) then this take a long time.

Does your D: still show in Explorer? If it does can Windows tell how it is formatted? I am going to guess the answer is no. When I built my Win2k/mandrake box I used a part of my drive that was unused instead of an old windows partition.

Yep, Explorer still shows D:/, but not allow me into it to explorer. I mean, the letter D:/ remains, but with a "unknow disk" label.
But linux doesn't format my D:/ partition before install mandrake? If not, how can I use my D:/ partition?

Wink

Well, I erase mandrake and install Red Hat 8. Now win2k works like before. But I´m gonna reinstall mandrake and try those tips to see if one works for me.
Tks guys.
