Post WIN2k VMWARE with GUEST Slackware

How can i make a virtual disk which i can also partition manually?
This is what i have and want to do:

Win2k with VMWARE 4.0 workstation
Trying to install Slackware 9.1
I create a flat disk 400megs
I boot with the slackware cd then i want to partition the virtual disk but i get :
FATAL ERROR: Cannot open disk drive
press anykey to exit cfdisk _
However when i install RH with the diskdruid partitioning it creates the partitions.

What gives ?

Remove the SCSI hard drive image and make an IDE one instead and it should work.
