few things to look for in addition to the base samba.

1 smbfs
2.smbmount
3. sambamnt

the smbfs is something you can install via up2date or YUM or apt-get, IIRC smbmount and sambamnt are commands (i think i am calling them the corret term) for mounting a windows share to a linux box. i have found it much simpler to mount a windows share then to mount a linux share.

go there to learn more about samba. for me it was a great place to start and is still were i goto for basic samba setups.
