Will FTPing a .gz to Win2K ruin it?

I have a few .gz files that I have downloaded to my Linux box. I would like to back them up to CD but the burner is on my Win2K server. Does anyone know if Win2K will damage the file in any way; i.e., will I be able to FTP it back to Linux and use that copy if needed?

A file is a file. So long as you transfer in binary mode (not ASCII) it should be OK.
