Smile Why we prefer Linux!

I have been reading a lot of posts from people who ask why they should use Linux when it is so difficult and complicated.
I guess if your interest in computing is for writing a document or a spreadsheet, Windows makes it very easy. Linux would not sound good to such a user.
Do we prefer Linux for its open source, its freedom of use?Its stability?Freedom from viruses? No BSODs?
All this and ,I suspect, something more.
The challenge of mastering a new and dynamic operating system. This is what keeps many of us at our PCs for hours trying to figure out a modem configuration or a new programme in Linux.
If you love this challenge join the Linux world.... and stick to it!
All thoughts on this are welcome.

If all you want to do is write documents and spreadsheets then any dekstop distro should do it just as good as windows.

I want to direct everyone to this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=20679

Its one of our longest ongoing threads covering this topic, so we really don't need anymore of these when we can contribute and keep all the discussion in one place.

Thanks. This thread will be closed as I would rather you contribute to the others that already exist.
