why my system default support BIG5?how to change UTF-8?

i don't know why

i wanna change it to utf8, because i can read unicode code,japanese ,just can read eng and chinese_tranditional now..

any one help me..i am use mdk 2006,thx a lot

This is pretty much the standard tutorial on Japanese on Linux. It's been around forever, and seems to have been updated to support some of the newer software, like anthy and scim.
