because i don't want to use wine and there are still programs on windows i need to use every now and then. just a personal preference for me.

chup 09-27-2003 03:18 PM

alot of people do it for playing games on windows.
i dont dual-boot though, i can play enemy territory even better on linux :D

rufius 09-27-2003 03:22 PM

:-p I used to, but I decided its better to keep the cow (windows) and the bull (linux) seperate, they tend to hump on eachother... so I run 2 diff boxes with the diff OS's.

Manny88 09-27-2003 03:41 PM

Because my Dad needs quickbooks for his work and hes a little ignorant when it comes to trying linux. If it was up to me it would be all Mandrake

mysterio 09-27-2003 06:54 PM

I still like to learn more about windows, and play around with some of the programs, and I def. like linux to learn how an OS really works.

DavidPhillips 09-27-2003 11:31 PM

Because I use both OS's and I cannot see hauling around another machine when one works great.

m0rl0ck 09-28-2003 03:12 AM

because its good to have another os to check hardware against and sometimes i like to play cfs2 :)

yapp 09-28-2003 04:40 AM

Because I play games about 5 times a year with a few friends. :p

I've seen a "New Hardware Wizard" several times now when I boot to Windows XP :D

sandman 09-28-2003 11:29 AM

Because I enjoy both os's and have "plenty" of hard drive space so no need not to.

BigNate 09-28-2003 12:18 PM

I dual boot one machine b/c my scanner only works with 98se

I dual boot my laptop b/c it came with windowsXP and...dunno, may find something I want to do with it from time to time.

I spend about 99% of my personal computing time in linux and once in while use M$ stuff...at work though it's all XPpro <wisper> so i put cygwin on there so I can have some linux stuff</wisper>

h1tman 09-28-2003 09:25 PM

becuz thres alot of programs on my windows partitoin that have no equivalent on linux

boreo 09-28-2003 09:39 PM

Because I want to try all the Linux distros :)

Megamieuwsel 09-29-2003 01:05 AM

Because I often (insert commonly used , but sometimes considered offensive by some people synonym for "mess" ) -up my installation and find a little comfort in having at least one partition with a clean , basic installation with the tools to fix it.
Testing other distro's is a reason too.

I get like 10-20fps more under windows with Enemy Territory, not mentioning that pretty soon weŽll have Max Payne 2 and Ufo:Aftermath to waste time with.
