Why cann't root modify the xinetd.d directory?
My computer (with Redhat 9.0) is in our department's LAN and managed by helpdesk guys. I have the "local root" acess right. But when I tried to modify the xinetd.d directory to add the CVS server to my system, I found I couldn't modify this directory even I am the "local root"!!! It reports "operation not permitted". I am really confused, why cannot root modify this directory? What tricks are there?
Thanks for your help.
