Unhappy Why can't I using "startx" to get into the X windows?


Who is so kind can tell me which command in linux can let me re-configure the command line model to X windows? Is it "xconfig"?

If you wanto startup Linux into X window instead of console login, goto /etc/inittab, change the run level to 5 similar like this:

# Default runlevel. The runlevels used by RHS are:
# 0 - halt (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
# 1 - Single user mode
# 2 - Multiuser, without NFS (The same as 3, if you do not have networking)
# 3 - Full multiuser mode
# 4 - unused
# 5 - X11
# 6 - reboot (Do NOT set initdefault to this)
#
id:5:initdefault:

will do the tricks

the command is Xconfigurator / xconfigurator.. the previous reply by gigsvoo is more apt.. if u are in text mode and want to boot and get x started right away
