Why accesing to CD stops all the system?


Isn't something Linux specific, but why when you for example start a copy with k3b the rest of the system stops working for a seconds? Some problem with IDE/ATAPI that requires disable multitasking? Someone knows exactly what is the problem?

Probably not using DMA for the burner device?
